PSL Awards Nominees To Be Announced On Tuesday

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed that the nominees for the 2024/25 PSL Awards will be unveiled on Tuesday.

The awards ceremony for the past season was delayed due to Mamelodi Sundowns’ deep run in the CAF Champions League and their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup, which concluded in America on Sunday.

As the reigning league champions, Mamelodi Sundowns are expected to feature prominently in several categories, including PSL Footballer of the Season and Coach of the Season. Lucas Ribeiro Costa is the strong favourite for Footballer of the Season, having already secured the PSL Golden Boot as the league’s top goal scorer. Cardoso, who took over from Manqoba Mngqithi at Sundowns in December, is a leading contender for Coach of the Season.

The PSL released a statement saying, “The Premier Soccer League (PSL) will announce the nominees for the #PSLAwards2025 on Tuesday, 15 July 2025. The official unveiling of the nominees will take place on the PSL’s digital platforms from 10:00.”

• Betway Premiership Coach of the Season
• Betway Premiership Goal of the Season
• Betway Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season
• Betway Premiership Defender of the Season
• Betway Premiership Midfielder of the Season
• Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season (under 21)
• MTN8 Last Man Standing
• Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament
• Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament
• Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament
• Motsepe Foundation Championship Players’ Player of the Season
• Motsepe Foundation Championship Young Player of the Season (under 19)
• Motsepe Foundation Championship Goalkeeper of the Season
• DStv Diski Challenge Player of the Season
• PSL Assistant Referee of the Season
• PSL Referee of the Season

Last season, Ronwen Williams was crowned Footballer of the Season, while Rulani Mokwena received the Coach of the Season award, both from Mamelodi Sundowns.
