Pyramids coach Krunoslav Jurčić has attributed his team’s remarkable success in the CAF Champions League to their attractive and offensive style of football.

The Croatian tactician, who joined Pyramids in 2024, has made history this season by leading the club to the CAF Champions League final for the first time in their history.

Speaking after their 1-1 draw in the CAF Champions League final first leg against Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday, Jurčić revealed that their good display in the competition this season is a direct result of their offensive football.

“My players play offensive football, and I’m the one who made them play this football because when I arrived, they were playing direct football,” he said.

“We started playing offensive football, and we will continue playing this type of football every time.

“I know many teams play direct football, and we are the best in our team with this offensive style.

“Everything starts at training sessions; we do this at training, and everything comes so easily on matchday.”

The second leg of the CAF Champions League final is scheduled for June 1 in Egypt at the 30 June Stadium.

However, before heading into this crucial match, Pyramids will face Ceramica Cleopatra in the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday, a game that Jurčić believes that it’s unfair to them to play while they are coming from a tough game against Sundowns, and they also have to face the Brazilians again.

“We are coming from a trip here in South Africa, and we’ll have only two days to prepare for that match against Ceramica,” he said.

“This is not good at all; how can we play against Ceramic on Wednesday, and then Sunday it’s Sundowns again?

“On Wednesday, it’s an important match, we have to win, so key players won’t rest while they’re playing again on Sunday against Sundowns.”

Jurčić also expressed his frustration with the lack of support for Pyramids, stating that the club doesn’t have any supporters. “We are a club that doesn’t have supporters, we have zero supporters,” he added.

Despite these challenges, Jurčić remains confident that his team will continue to play their brand of football and make their fans proud.

As Pyramids prepares to take on Sundowns in the second leg of the Champions League final, Jurčić’s words will be echoed by his players, who will be looking to their coach’s guidance to overcome the challenges ahead.

With their offensive style of football, Pyramids will be looking to make history and bring home their first-ever CAF Champions League title.
